The potions designed for dry AF skin! | Pure Potions
Pure Potions… is this the answer to my dry skin?
Ever since I started my Roaccutane treatments, my skin has been dryer than the Sahara Desert and I’ve been on the hunt for something that is going to quench my skins new found thirst!
Ive recently been testing out some new discoveries from a brand called Pure Potions, and have really been enjoying using them!
“Our position is that there is nothing mysterious or controversial about the effectiveness of our products; we are committed to absolute transparency and evidence-based research to back up our claims of efficacy.” – Pure Potions
The ointment is really great and very moisturising. The only downside to it is i’m not a huge fan of the smell. It’s not awful, it just smells very ‘natural’.
“This is our original award-winning natural moisturiser, exactly as first formulated by Natalie as an emollient for her daughter’s highly sensitive skin. When every other cream irritated or flared-up Lula’s sensitive skin, this lovely traditional balm kept her skin soft, supple and well-hydrated.”
The ointment is an oil based beeswax formula, which explains the smell. Because the ingredients are all natural its suitable for people of all ages from 6 weeks up! Its great for sensitive skin as the natural ingredients reduce the risk of skin irritation and itchiness from synthetic additives. Its also suitable for people who may be prone to eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and other dry skin conditions. In fact, I got my bestie Remi to try it out too since she suffers from Eczema and she is a fan!
Moving onto the cream…
It’s good but doesn’t go a long way so you would need a few tubes if you wanted it to last. Although, most people probably wont use it on an large of an area as me so it might stretch a little further for the average person.
“We took the essential natural ingredients of our award-winning ointment and made a softer, more-easily absorbed cream which still provides fantastic hydration for sensitive skin. Because we’ve left out the beeswax and replaced it with super-soft, moisturising shea butter, the cream is suitable for vegans.”
Once again this cream is perfect for people who may be prone to eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and dry, sore, itchy skin conditions as the formula is all natural and is free from fragrance and other harsh chemicals!
Another one of their products I’ve been using is the scalp oil.
The verdict on this one is that its good, however I would not recommend putting on clean hair as if you aren’t careful it will make your hair very greasy. A little bit of this stuff goes along way so the key thing to remember with this is that less is more.
“Skin Salvation Scalp Oil is a totally natural hair & scalp treatment, formulated as an alternative to synthetic treatments and shampoos which can strip natural oils from the skin and dry out sensitive scalps, aggravating conditions such as scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema or dandruff.”
The concoction is made up of herb-infused oils of nettle, calendula and chickweed, antimicrobial and stimulating essential tea tree and rosemary oils, hemp and borage seed oils.
Other uses for the oil are:
As a beard or hair oil
As a foot rub
As a topical rescue oil
As an inhalation oil
My overal feelings on these are that they’re okay but they are surprisingly drying on the scalp so although they are kind to the hair they are a little tough on my dry scalp. Of course everyones skin is different, so what might be drying for me could be just right for you!
“After years of our customers begging us for non-irritating natural hair care to complement our range of natural skincare products for sensitive or dry skin, we got to work with formulating products that would condition and care for hair and scalp without aggravating eczema or scalp psoriasis.”
The shampoo is based on gentle, plant-based cleansers: biodegradable, non-ionic surfactants derived from sugar, corn, soy, castor oil and coconut. The idea is to gently lift dirt and grease from the hair, without stripping the natural oils from the skin or irritating the scalp, avoiding the flakiness and dryness associated with synthetic detergents. Unfortunately for me I still experienced dryness but they still did a great job at cleaning and conditioning the actual hair.
Im a big fan of the brand!
As with any brand there are some products I love more than others, but overall they have pretty much nailed it in terms of skin care!
I will definitely be incorporating some of the skin care (particularly the ointment) into my ongoing skin care routine!
I want to give a big shout out to Pure Potions for sending me these bits to try out! I haven’t honestly discovered some amazing products that will be re purchased over and over!
Until next time…
